World Refugee Day 2003: Djibouti

On June 21, an official ceremony was held to mark World Refugee Day in the conference hall of the Palais du Peuple. Somali refugees showcased songs and dances. A theatrical group based in Holl-Holl refugee camp and guided by AMDA (UNHCR's NGO partner) performed a short play to sensitise the public to HIV/AIDS. Apart from UNHCR, speeches were also delivered by the Minister of the Interior and Decentralisation, and the Office National d'Assistance aux Réfugiés et Sinistrés.

In the week preceding the celebrations, Djibouti's national television and radio company, RTD, broadcast seven documentaries produced by UNHCR.
