About Aseel
Aseel Omran was the first Saudi appointed to this Goodwill Ambassador title for UNHCR. Aseel is a Saudi Arabian multi-talented actress and singer. She participated in the talent show “Gulf Stars” in her early years, where she rose to stardom after winning the competition. Her young age helped her become the first youth star in Saudi Arabia.
Since then, she released several music albums and appeared in more than ten television series all over the GCC. She is also a social media influencer with millions of followers from around the globe. Aseel is known for several roles in TV shows, including Netflix’s Black Crows, What If, Qabel Lil Kaser, Harun Al Rashid and Akoun Aw La.
Recently, Aseel has been starring in the Netflix series and in theatre productions in KSA. She is also the first Arab ambassador for Dior. With over 9 million followers across Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter, Aseel has an incredible reach that has proven successful in advocacy engagements and raising awareness on UNHCR’s work, refugees’ needs, and the impact of people’s donations.

Past highlights of Aseel’s support
Aseel has been supporting UNHCR since 2018. In 2018, she visited the Zaatari camp supporting UNHCR’s winterization campaign. Aseel was a strong voice for several of UNHCR’s significant campaigns, including the winter and monsoon appeals for Rohingya Refugees.
Aseel supported UNHCR’s “Every Gift Counts” Ramadan campaign in 2020 and has consistently participated in International Women’s Day and World Refugee Day activations over the last three years. She’s been working with UNHCR as high profile supporter since July 2020.

Recent field visits to Nigeria and Bangladesh
In Ramadan 2022, Aseel visited internally displaced persons in north-east Nigeria, where she spent a few days on the ground advocating and appealing to her audiences to lend their support for vulnerable families during the Holy month of Ramadan. During the visit, Aseel also visited the Future Prowess Islamic Foundation School, where she spent the day with the students and heard about their academic aspirations and goals for the future. Through her social media platforms, Aseel told these students' stories and urged her community to help invest in the education of refugees and displaced persons.
In May 2023, Aseel visited Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. There, she met with families to understand their rising needs and highlight the impact of the public’s donations. Aseel participated in the annual Kite Festival, which brought together the refugee and host community and reflected unity as kites flew with messages of solidarity with refugees. She also visited various camp programs and centres, including the Women and Girls Safe Space, a livelihoods centre, and an education centre. Through this visit, Aseel advocated for more support for the Rohingya community due to the severe underfunding and the increasing needs.
