Documents issued in the A/AC.96/... series are automatically sent to Ministries concerned and made available in the pigeon holes used at the Palais by the Permanent Missions in Geneva. These documents are also available on the UN Official Documents System (ODS) in the six required languages, and on the English and French annual Executive Committee session webpages. As per the United Nations’ initiative which aims to reduce costs and be more environmentally conscious, copies of documentation are no longer made available in the conference room.

Summary records

Pursuant to General Assembly resolution 3415 (XXX), summary records of meetings of United Nations bodies are issued in final form only. The summary records will be posted on the ODS as soon as possible after each meeting. Corrections to all summary records will be issued in a single corrigendum after the session. The procedure for submitting corrections is set out on the first page of the summary record.

Submission of documents

In order to conform with rule 23 of the Rules of Procedure of the Executive Committee, draft resolutions and substantive amendments or motions must be circulated to delegations 24 hours before they are discussed. Delegations are therefore requested to provide the Secretary with any such texts 48 hours in advance.

Conclusions on international protection

International protection is included as a priority theme on the agenda of each Executive Committee session. The consensus reached by the Committee in the course of its discussions is expressed in the form of Conclusions on international protection.

Although not formally binding, Conclusions are relevant to the interpretation of the international protection regime. They constitute expressions of opinion which are broadly representative of the views of the international community. The specialist knowledge of ExCom and the fact that its Conclusions are taken by consensus add further weight.
