1 At its 49th plenary meeting, on 4 November 1993, the General Assembly, on the proposal of the Secretary-General2, extended the term of office of Mrs. Sadako OGATA as United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees for a period of five years beginning on 1 January 1994 and ending on 31 December 1998.
