Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the Specialized Agencies: annex relating to the International Refugee Organization Resolution of 9 March 1949 (document E/1253)
E/RES/212 (VIII)

9 March 1949

The Economic and Social Council,

Taking note of General Assembly resolution 179 (II) of 21 November 1947, which approved a General Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the Specialized Agencies and submitted it to the specialized agencies for acceptance and to every Member of the United Nations and to every other State member of one or more of the specialized agencies for accession,

Taking note that the General Assembly thought it desirable that any specialized agency thereafter brought into relationship with the United Nations should derive its privileges and immunities exclusively from the said General Convention, with such modifications as may be necessary to meet the particular requirements of that agency to be contained in an annex,

Taking note that the Agreement between the United Nations and the International Refugee Organization entered into force on 18 November 1948,

Taking note that section 35 of the said Convention provides that the Secretary-General shall transmit to the agency a draft annex recommended by the Economic and Social Council,

Recommends to the IRO the following draft annex:

"ANNEX X

"The International Refugee Organization

"The standard clauses shall apply without modification.";

Requests the Secretary-General to transmit to the IRO the recommendation of the Economic and Social Council of the above-mentioned annex.
