Guidelines for the safe disposal of solid waste in humanitarian contexts

These guidelines aim to support practitioners on the ground in making decisions regarding the sound disposal of domestic solid waste in refugee camps/settlements, as recommended by UNHCR in its Operational Strategy for Climate Resilience and Environmental Sustainability. The overarching objective is to mitigate the impact of waste on the environment and public health, in harmony with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015.
