High Commissioner's Dialogue on Protection Challenges, 2007
The first meeting of the High Commissioner’s Dialogue on Protection Challenges took place in Geneva, Switzerland, from 11-12 December 2007.
The Dialogue, chaired by UN High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres, aimed at examining challenges and dilemmas linked to refugee protection amidst today’s migration flows. It sought to go beyond a focus on control of irregular migration, and to examine more broadly the relationships between protection, solutions, and migration. The Dialogue highlighted the opportunities for strengthening operational and other partnerships in this regard, and promoted a protection and human rights perspective in approaching problems at the intersection of asylum and migration.
All in the same boat: The challenges of mixed migration around the world.
The link between movements of refugees and broader migration attracts growing attention.
