World Refugee Day 2004 National Activity Plan: Moldova, Republic of

UNHCR will organise a drawing contest for schoolchildren on the 2004 World Refugee Day theme, "A place to call home: Rebuilding lives in safety and dignity". The best drawings will be displayed at the Charity Centre for Refugees and will be used for the 2005 UNHCR calendar in Moldova.

From 6-20 June, National TV and PRO TV will broadcast the World Refugee Day spot. From 10-20 June, "Partia" cinema house will screen the World Refugee Day films and hold a poster exhibition.

A football competition between refugee and local teams will be organised on 11 June near the Reception Centre for Asylum Seekers.

On 18 June, the Charity Centre for Refugees will host a party dedicated to World Refugee Day. Refugees and asylum seekers will perform during the party and will prepare traditional food from their countries of origin. There will be also a handicraft exhibition displaying products made by refugee children who have taken ceramics lessons at the centre.
