World Refugee Day 2004 National Activity Plan: Djibouti
On 17 June, a special programme on refugee issues will be broadcast on the national TV channel, including a talk show and various films on refugees.
On 20-21 June, the World Refugee Day celebrations will take place at the Palais du Peuple.
On 20 June, films on refugees will be broadcast and refugee bands will perform traditional Somali and Ethiopian dances and songs. ONARS Executive Secretary, the representatives of the Somali and Ethiopian refugee communities, the UNHCR Representative and the Ministry of Home Affairs and Decentralisation will deliver speeches.
On 21 June, representatives of ONARS and UNHCR, and leaders of the refugee communities will open the celebrations with speeches. A cultural event will follow, including traditional dances and songs performed by artists as well as young people.
Refugees from Ali-Addeh camp will also perform. Later, school results will be announced and prizes will be given out.
