Statement on passing of Barbara Harrell-Bond

I was saddened to learn of the death of Barbara Harrell-Bond, a champion of human rights and social justice, and a leading figure in refugee studies.

She was a tireless advocate both for individual refugees and the refugee cause.

Her passing is a loss to the refugees around the world who benefited from her expertise and deep personal engagement, and that of those who worked alongside and were inspired by her.

My deep sympathies go to her family and loved ones.
