Kosovo: UNHCR welcomes Yugoslavia's acceptance of international peace plan
UNHCR welcomes Yugoslavia's acceptance of the international peace plan for Kosovo. We also welcome the key role UNHCR has been given under the plan in overseeing the return of refugees and displaced people to their homes. UNHCR has already put its preparations for return in a higher gear. At the same time, UNHCR stresses that a successful return will be linked to a total withdrawal of Serbian forces from Kosovo and the deployment of a strong international troops contingent to ensure the safety of the returnees.
Refugees continued to arrive in Macedonia, Albania and Montenegro Thursday. 370 persons arrived through various crossing points in Macedonia, while 165 trickled into northern Albania. Montenegro saw the arrival of 6 buses with 375 people coming from Kosovska Mitrovica.
