"There is literally nowhere. You are going nowhere." This man fled political unrest in Zimbabwe ten years ago. The Zimbabwean embassy refuse to recognise him, and all his asylum claims have been rejected. He is stranded in the UK.

"Still I don't have freedom. You just walk with fear. You don't know where you are heading to." Having fled persecution in West Africa, this man has been stateless in the UK for almost 15 years.

This 27-year-old woman is Kurdish and was born in Syria. When her family arrived in the UK, their asylum claims were rejected. They were detained and threatened with deportation. After a public campaign was launched, her family were finally granted permission to stay in the UK.

I'm like a bird in a cage, looking out at everyone, watching them and everything go by. All I can do is watch.' This 31-year-old was born in Kuwait and is a member of the Bidoon community. He has been stateless in the UK since 2007.

"You can't work. You can't go to college. You can't do anything. You are just there." This stateless woman fled human rights abuses in Zimbabwe 10 years ago. Without a legal status, she is unable to work, gain an education or have aspirations of any kind.

"Its just like the world abandoned you...Nobody listens to you no more." This stateless man came to the UK as a young child. He has lived much of his life homeless and has spent six months in immigration detention.

Statelessness can often leave individuals destitute on the margins of society. This 35-year-old from Palestine has spent much of his time homeless living on the streets, unable to work or go to school, and with little support.

Over 100,000 people from the Bidoon community have been denied a nationality in Kuwait. This stateless man fled to the UK from Kuwait in 2004. He has spent six months in detention, unable to leave the UK, and has been rejected as a citizen of Kuwait. He now lives in legal limbo.
