The High Commissioner (HC) attended a luncheon discussion on Prospects for Stability in Afghanistan, organized by the International Crisis Group, hosted by Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, and attended by several high-level officials and dignitaries.
The HC participated in a panel discussion titled The Global Displacement Crisis: Beyond Humanitarianism, where he spoke about the humanitarian-development nexus and the importance of responsibility-sharing. The panel discussion was organized by the Wilson Center with the participation of H.E. Minister Ayman Al Safadi, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Notis Mitarachi, Minister of Migration and Asylum in Greece, and Alyse Nelson, President and CEO of Vital Voices Global Partnership.
Moreover, the HC held meetings with several high-level officials and decision-makers, as well as, UNHCR key partners, namely the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD). Below is the coverage of the HC’s meeting with H.E. Khalifa Al Kuwari, Director General of QFFD.
Furthermore, the HC held an interview with UNHCR’s longstanding partner, Education Above All Foundation, where he highlighted the paramount importance of education for those displaced by conflict and its essential role in contributing to reconciliation and dialogue.
