World Refugee Day 2004: Albania
World Refugee Day 2004: Albania
From 27 May to 22 June, UNHCR organised an exhibition of paintings titled "Colours of Albania in the World" at the Albanian Gallery of Arts. The exhibition brought home 23 Albanian artists living and working abroad. Some are refugees from the previous regime, others are migrants, but all have been living abroad for many years. The artwork reflects their nostalgia for their home country, and artists Ibrahim Kodra and Omer Kaleshi have been called symbols of Albanian culture.
The exhibition was organised in partnership with the International Organization for Migration and the National Gallery of Arts, under the auspices of the Albanian Prime Minister.
