Sister Rosita Milesi, an advocate in Brazil for refugee and migrant rights whose efforts have shaped key legislation, is the 2024 UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award’s Global Laureate.
Four regional winners – working in Burkina Faso, Egypt, Nepal and Türkiye – have also been named.
Given annually since 1954, the award recognizes extraordinary individuals, groups and organizations who have gone above and beyond to find sustainable solutions for refugees, internally displaced people and those who are stateless.
The Nansen ceremony is open to all journalists accredited with the UN Office in Geneva. A live feed will also be available to broadcasters. For assistance with either of these, please contact [email protected].
