1. Adoption of the agenda

2. Adoption of the work programme of the Standing Committee in 2000

The work programme of the Standing Committee in 2000 adopted at the planning meeting held on 15 December 1999 is contained in document EC/50/SC/CRP.2.

3. Programme and funding

The Standing Committee will consider the following sub-items, each of which will be introduced and discussed separately:

(i) Overall Programme and Funding in 1999 and Projections for 2000 (EC/50/SC/CRP.3).

(ii) Oral strategic presentations will precede discussion on policy developments in the following regions:

a. Africa (see also, pages 40-113 of the 2000 Global Appeal)

b. CASWANAME (see also, pages 114-148 of the 2000 Global Appeal)

(iii) Medium Term Plan 2002-2005 (EC/50/SC/CRP.4).

(iv) Review of UNHCR's Budget Structure (EC/50/SC/CRP.5).

4. Protection/Programme policy

Under this agenda item, the Standing Committee will review the following documentation, each of which will be introduced and discussed separately:

(i) Follow-up to the annual theme of the fiftieth session of the Executive Committee: Strengthening partnership to ensure protection, also in relation to security (A/AC.96/923). Delegations will give consideration to issues in need of further discussion highlighted in the Chairman's summing up of the debate (A/AC.96/928, Annex III).

(ii) Refugee Children and Adolescents: a Progress Report (EC/50/SC/CRP.7).

(iii) Older Refugees: Looking Beyond the International Year of Older Persons (EC/50/SC/CRP.8).

(iv) Mainstreaming Environmental Concerns in Refugee Operations (EC/50/SC/CRP.9).

(v) Statistics and Registration: a Progress Report (EC/50/SC/CRP.10).

(vi) Reintegration: a Progress Report (EC/50/SC/CRP.11).

5. Coordination

The Standing Committee will receive an oral update on coordination issues within the United Nations system.

6. Governance

The following issues will be introduced and discussed separately:

(i) The Standing Committee will give consideration to the selection of the Annual Theme for the fifty-first session of the Executive Committee.

(ii) Revitalization of the format of the Executive Committee (EC/50/SC/CRP.6).

(iii) Preparations for UNHCR's 50th anniversary (oral report).

7. Protection/Programme policy

The independent evaluation of UNHCR's response to the Kosovo emergency (EC/50/SC/CRP.12) will be introduced by the head of the evaluation team.
