9 March 2023 Also available in:

RIYADH – During a recent visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 3rd Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum organized by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief), the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi signed a US$6 million agreement with KSRelief in support of refugees and internally displaced people in Yemen.

The agreement focuses on helping the most vulnerable, including with legal counselling, civil documentation, primary and secondary healthcare, and psychosocial support.

“We are grateful for KSRelief's continuous support and timely contributions in assisting some of the most vulnerable people in Yemen,” Grandi said. “This generous contribution will strengthen our efforts to help displaced people and refugees to stay safe, recover from harm and rebuild their lives in dignity.”

The High Commissioner also expressed his appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people for their support and reiterated the need for firm commitments and enhanced solidarity towards the world’s forcibly displaced people.

Dr. Abduallah Al Rabeeah, Supervisor General of KSRelief, said that “the Kingdom is keen to support refugees and internally displaced people through the effective partnerships with UNHCR and the rest of the partners to improve the conditions of these groups.” He added that KSRelief values this strategic partnership with UNHCR and aspires that it will achieve an effective and optimal impact.

Yemen remains one of the world's largest humanitarian crises, with approximately 4.5 million internally displaced people and over 23.4 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. There are also nearly 100,000 refugees and asylum seekers from other countries in Yemen.
