World Refugee Day 2003 National Activity Plan: Russian Federation

A website in Russian will be launched to promote the refugee cause and World Refugee Day among the general public.

A concert will be organised by UNHCR and the Moscow Peace Fund around the theme "Refugee Youth" to bring refugee and local musicians together.

A commemoration ceremony will be held in Vladikavkaz in North Ossetia with the participation of refugees from Georgia, local NGOs and authorities.

The newspaper, 1st September, will have a special supplement about World Refugee Day. It will have educational information that can be used by teachers for lessons on tolerance.

To provide refugees with an opportunity to celebrate and express their cultural identity, UNHCR and its partner organisation, Equilibre-Solidarity, will hold a fair. Refugees and asylum seekers will perform music and showcase different talents.

A roundtable on refugee issues will be broadcast on television on June 20, featuring refugees, UNHCR, governmental and non-governmental organisations.
