About Danny
Venezuelan superstar, Danny Ocean, has been a supporter of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency since 2019, when he performed at the Nansen Refugee Award Ceremony in Geneva, an event that highlights the incredible work ordinary people do to help refugees. His performance was dedicated to all those families who had to leave loved ones behind.
At the end of 2019, Danny visited UNHCR projects in Mexico City, where he met with a Venezuelan refugee family and with children who had escaped gang violence in Central America, finding safety at a shelter in Mexico. Danny performed for the children and gave advice to the aspiring young musicians among them, who shared their music with Danny.
Danny himself started composing and producing music as a teenager. He found his characteristic sound and began expressing his feelings through his lyrics and distinctive voice. Due to the political and economic crisis in Venezuela, Danny moved to Miami to further his career. The separation from the girl he loved inspired him to write his worldwide hit, Me Rehúso. The song charted across the globe with over 1.4 billion YouTube views.
Danny Ocean performed a special acoustic rendition of Me Rehúso at the 2019 Nansen Refugee Award Ceremony.
