UNHCR annual Executive Committee meeting next week
UNHCR's governing body, the 68-nation Executive Committee, begins its annual five-day meeting on Monday in the Assembly Hall here at the Palais. The meeting is open to media. During the week, "ExCom" reviews and approves our programmes and budget, advises on international protection and discusses a wide range of other issues with UNHCR and its inter-governmental and non-governmental partners.
Secretary-General Kofi Annan is scheduled to address the meeting on Thursday at 3 p.m. High Commissioner António Guterres will deliver the opening address on Monday morning, sometime after 10 a.m. We'll issue a press release and copies of his opening address on Monday morning. We'll do other press releases during the week as warranted, including on the annual protection report by UNHCR's Director of International Protection, Erika Feller.
Please note that the first day's session on Monday will be held in the Assembly Hall, and then ExCom moves to Salle XVII for the rest of the week.
As usual, the High Commissioner will hold a briefing for you here in Salle III at midday next Friday, immediately after the conclusion of ExCom.
