Sub-Office Kerman

Sub-Office Kerman

UNHCR Sub-Office Kerman (SOK) was established in late 2008 in Kerman city.

The office’s Area of Responsibility (AoR) covers Kerman, Yazd, Hormozgan, and Sistan and Baluchistan provinces situated in the center and south-eastern regions of Iran.

The above-mentioned provinces host some 107,000 refugees, representing 14.8 per cent of the country's total refugee population of 762,000. Within the SOK’s AOR, there are five refugee settlements, with a total population of 18,000. Two of these settlements are in Kerman province, in the cities of Bardsir and Rafsanjan, and three are in Yazd province, in the cities of Ardakan, Meybod, and Taft. SOK provides assistance to refugees through its in-person reception center and via a hotline system.

Kerman province hosts the largest refugee population among the four provinces under SOK’s AoR, followed by Yazd, Hormozgan, and Sistan and Baluchistan.
