About Jung Woo-sung
South Korean actor Jung Woo-sung was announced as a National Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency in June 2015. He has travelled to Bangladesh, Iraq, Nepal, South Sudan, Djibouti and Lebanon to see UNHCR’s frontline work, and undertaken extensive fundraising and awareness-raising work on behalf of the refugees that he has met.
Jung Woo-sung has consistently supported UNHCR’s fundraising efforts and has participated in UNHCR campaigns, including #WithRefugees and World Refugee Day.
Jung Woo-sung visited the Rohingya refugee camp in Bangladesh for the second time in May 2019, where he reunited with two families he had met during his first visit to Kutupalong in 2017. It was the first time for him to meet again with refugees he met in the camps, an experience he described as “too heartbreaking to be repeated''.
On World Refugee Day in 2019, Jung Woo-sung’s memoir “If you could see what I have seen” was published. The book reflects his journey with UNHCR since 2014, during which he travelled to Nepal, South Sudan, Lebanon, Iraq, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Djibouti to meet refugees and internally displaced people there and bring back their stories to his fans and audience in Korea. All of the proceeds from the sales of his book go to UNHCR.
