Connecting the Dots - Uniting Regional Aid via Innovative Approaches
As part of ongoing efforts to foster complementarity amongst different protection partners on the ground, UNHCR has been implementing various innovative approaches to organizing, providing, and uniting aid across Ukraine’s neighbouring countries.
-Follow the “Blue Dots”-
“Blue Dots” are one-stop safe spaces established by UNHCR and UNICEF, where children, families and other vulnerable people fleeing Ukraine can access life-saving protection services provided by different protection partners such as psychological aid, children playroom, breastfeeding facility, social welfare support, and legal counselling, etc. Already, 10 “Blue Dots” hubs are in operation across Poland, Moldova and Romania. An additional 20 “Blue Dots” are opening soon.
-Stay Safe-
Since 90% of Ukrainian refugees are women and children, UNHCR launched a ‘Stay Safe’ campaign to raise awareness about gender-based violence and trafficking. Rolled out across the region and featuring posters, leaflets, online messages and tips for people on the move, its messages reached almost 870,000 people through social media within a single week alone.
-Meet Volunteers-

From everywhere across Europe and beyond, people like Dr. Anthony Ezerioha – who studied medicine in Ukraine and now practices medicine in Germany – have been flocking to Poland where most Ukrainian refugees live. Whether helping the sick like Dr. Ezerioha or serving food in makeshift camps, they too stand with Ukrainian refugees.
I pledge to stand with Ukrainian refugees and support them in this diffcult time.
