Spread Your Warmth, Celebrate Festive Season with Refugees!
As a festive season we have always been waiting for, Christmas is always the day we spare no effort to gift our loved ones and decorate our house to fill this season with love. Nonetheless, in the other corner of the world, not everyone is fortunate enough to celebrate Christmas with their families— many of refugees are suffering from the pain of being separated from their families, and the pressure of being unable to sustain their lives during winter, making the season even colder.
This Christmas, are you willing to join us, to deliver your warmth and celebrate this festive season with refugees?
You can deliver warmth to refugees this festive season!
Cash for Food $5200
At subzero temperature, warm food is more important than ever to regain strength.
HKD 5,200 could provide 3 refugee families food assistance by one-off cash assistance for 3 months
Cash for Fuel & Clothing $4400
Economic challenges exacerbated in winter disproportionately, the majority of affected persons, whose shelters do not protect against the cold do not have the financial means to purchase fuel and heaters to supplement their heating requirements.
HKD 4,400 is enough to provide cash assistance to 2 displaced families and help them to procure much needed fuel for heating and winter clothes to keep them warm during harsh winter months.
Emergency Shelter Kit $3400
For refugee families who have been forced to flee their homes, lack of access to safe and warm shelter is a genuine risk, as many are forced to live in shelters not equipped to be waterproof or weatherproof.
HKD 3,400 is enough to provide an emergency shelter kit to a displaced family in Afghanistan, thus preserving their dignity and strengthening their safety.
Blanket Packages $2500
In cold climates, with temperatures below freezing, people can die within a day without adequate protection from the elements. For those most at risk, survival is often dependent on prioritizing the distribution of blankets, thus allowing them to stay warm.
HKD 2,500 can provide blankets to 10 families affected by the displacement crisis in Afghanistan.
Tent Insulation Kits $1200
Insulation is critical to keeping makeshift shelters at a safe temperature in subzero conditions.
HKD 1,200 can provide a tent insulation kit to a displaced family in Afghanistan, thus help prevent heat loss and help survival through periods of cold.
*Virtual gifts are symbolic items that represent UNHCR’s lifesaving assistance and services all around the world. When you choose to send vital and empowering gifts from an array of options, ranging from food, clean water, shelter, medical to school supplies, the income generated will be used to support UNHCR’s works to protect people forced to flee, find solutions to resolve refugee issues and ensure that everyone has the right to seek asylum.
Stories of other refugees
Yamileth, 20, comes from Venezuela. Arriving in Chile with nothing, she and her family can only live on the streets and survive by selling sweets to passersby. Nonetheless, the earnings are still inadequate for Yamileth to purchase items that help them stand the cold.
Um Mohammed is a refugee mother from Syria. When winter and rainy seasons hit, their tent will fall apart. It leaks and fills their home with mud, making them difficult to sleep at night. Now, Um Mohammed even has to worry about the health conditions of her children under the brutally cold weather.
Samira and Khalid are refugees from Palestine. After arriving in Lebanon, they have no choice but live in an unfinished building, with the entryway being blocked by only an old mattress. Whenever winter comes, they feel seriously ill, suffer from asthma as well as heart problems.
