Seda Kuzucu currently serves as the UNHCR Representative in Bulgaria, having assumed her position in November 2022.
Over her illustrious three-decade career with UNHCR, Seda Kuzucu has garnered extensive experience in emergency responses across various regions, including Tunisia, Myanmar, Sudan, and Ethiopia. Her diverse roles have included serving as a national staff member at UNHCR Türkiye, Protection Officer in Kakuma, Kenya and then UNHCR’s Regional Office in Thailand, Senior Protection Officer in UNHCR’s Regional Office in China, Head of Field Office in Presevo, Serbia, Senior Resettlement Officer (Policy) in the Division of International Protection at UNHCR headquarters in Geneva, and Senior Protection Coordinator in Kakuma, Kenya. With the onset of the conflict in Ukraine, Seda Kuzucu re-opened UNHCR Slovakia office while serving as Head of UNHCR’s National Office. Prior to her appointment in Sofia, she served as the Senior Emergency Coordinator within the Division of Emergency, Security, and Supply at UNHCR Headquarters in Geneva.
