Ayanda Makayi is a High Level Influencer for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency's, LuQuLuQu campaign.

Ayanda is an actor, model, casting director and a member of the band EcogrooveSA. Ayanda is passionate about supporting African men, women, and children who have been forced to flee their homes, and uses his skills and platform to help change the narrative of Africa’s forcibly displaced.

Ayanda's song has been used for one of the LuQuLuQu Covid-19 emergency response campaigns as part of the fundraising and public engagement initatives stewarded by the LuQuLuQu Tribe in an effort to help protect forcibly displaced people against the spread of Covid-19 in refugee camps.

In his role as a High Level Influencer for LuQuLuQu, Ayanda has visited Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya, where he witnessed first-hand how UNHCR operates on the ground and experienced a day in the life of a refugee living in a camp. He also had the opportunity to visit Dzaleka camp in Malawi to better understand how he can use his platform to provide lifesaving support to families forced to flee.
