Working with Ministries of Education: Good Practices from the East and Horn of Africa and Great Lakes region
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is committed to advancing refugee inclusion in national education systems in line with the Global Compact for Refugees and Refugee Education 2030. In most countries in the East and Horn of Africa and Great Lakes region, this requires a major shift in how refugee education is delivered, and not least, in the ways in which UNHCR itself works with Ministries of Education. In this report, specific approaches adopted by country teams are outlined, recognizing that each has its own unique policy and economic context. These approaches include expanding system capacity, evidence-based planning, and responsibility-sharing mechanisms.
