UNHCR staff register refugees at the Douma registration center on the outskirts of Damascus. Registering with UNHCR ensures that the most vulnerable refugees receive aid.

In schools, there were displays and presentations on the theme of refugees. A World Refugee Day essay contest was held for secondary students. The best two essays will be published in a newspaper. Special radio shows about refugees were also broadcast.
