World Refugee Day 2007 National Activities: Serbia

UNHCR organized World Refugee Day activities in several locations in Kosovo. In Gjilan/Gnjilane municipalities open discussions were organized with displaced people, returnees, local authorities and the international community. In Rahovec/Orahovac on 20 June, a multi-ethnic workshop on the theme "Human Rights" was held with the participation of 50 young people of different ethnic groups.

Football tournaments involving youth of different communities were organized throughout the region. Some 500 people attended a rock concert in Ferizaj/Urosevac.

UNHCR Kosovo distributed some 800 posters in English, Albanian and Serbian showing Kosovo IDPs and bearing the message, "Listen to their Concern." Several TV stations in Kosovo broadcast UNHCR ads and High Commissioner António Guterres's WRD message.
