UNHCR Support to Covid19 Response in Syria

In Hama, UNHCR Syria with local association is bringing hope to children with disabilities. UNHCR supports the local associations to be equipped with specialized educational tools for children with disabilities.

Emad lost his entire family when deadly earthquakes struck Syria last month and their home collapsed. Shelters have been set up to provide support, but the needs keep growing.

In Latakia, UNHCR Syria installed Rubb halls in 7 schools to be used as temporary classrooms after the February earthquake. These halls will support around 1,600 students to resume their studies and take their exams on time.

We met with 3 talented refugee women living in Syria. We asked them what “hope” means for them and what they want to achieve with their talents. Join us in celebrating the refugees who inspired us through their stories, their strengths, and their talents. #WithRefugees    

This is the story of Waed. He lost his son and house during the earthquakes in February and is now trying to rebuild his life. With UNHCR’s cash assistance, he is able to rent a place for his family in Hama. This is a story of overcoming hardships.  

UNHCR staff stand together with people affected by the earthquake. In addition to delivering assistance to those in need, UNHCR colleagues also collected winter clothes, shoes and other items to support the affected people in Aleppo, Hama and Jableh.
