UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and Ooredoo, Qatar’s telecom and ICT company, are partnering to bring to the forefront the plight of refugees and displaced people worldwide.
As part of the partnership, UNHCR will participate in the Ooredoo Doha Marathon on 11 March 2022, where it will set up a desk to engage with the public and raise awareness on UNHCR’s mandate and work at a time where more than 82 million people have been forced to flee their home due to conflict and persecution globally.
UNHCR’s Representative in the State of Qatar, Ms. Ayat El-Dewary, lauded Ooredoo’s support, saying: “We are honored and grateful for the start of this strategic partnership with Ooredoo, which will be instrumental in amplifying messages of solidarity for the forcibly displaced globally. We look forward to continuing this fruitful partnership with Ooredoo in the future.”
“We are proud to partner with UNHCR to support their important efforts to extend a helping hand to refugees around the world, and we are delighted that the marathon we are organizing – and this new partnership – will be a platform for UNHCR to spread awareness on the cause it supports,” said Mrs. Moza Khalid Al-Muhannadi, Director CSR, Sponsorship and Media at Ooredoo.
Registration for the Ooredoo Doha Marathon is now open, and interested individuals are welcome to sign up here.
