Overview

Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) is a public development institution committed, on behalf of the State of Qatar, to implement external aid projects under Law No. 19 of 2002 and its amendments. It has provided aid to several countries around the world to achieve the international cooperation goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

The Qatar Fund for Development’s main goal is to achieve inclusive and sustainable development, by addressing priority issues of education, health and economic empowerment.

Support to UNHCR

Since 2018, QFFD has supported UNHCR’s work with the provision of education, healthcare, shelter, cash and winter assistance for Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan, as well as, Rohingya refugees and internally displaced Iraqis, Yemenis and Afghans.

On the sidelines of the Doha Forum at the end of 2018, UNHCR signed a multi-year core contribution agreement (2019-2020) of USD 16M, a flexible contribution that was renewed for 2021-2022 for an amount of USD 8M.

QFFD’s contributions to UNHCR’s programmes have reached some USD 89M, in support of millions of vulnerable populations in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Malaysia and beyond.

Overall Government contributions from Qatar since 2010 have so far exceeded USD 128 million.
