World Refugee Day 2003 National Activity Plan: Czech Republic

UNHCR's Czech website will have information on refugee youth and their personal stories.

One of the country's largest travel agencies, GTS, will have a copy of the World Refugee Day leaflet inserted in every plane ticket it issues in June. The tagline will be: "Most people travel for fun, refugees travel from fear."

On June 20, a concert with refugee bands will be held in Rock Café in Prague. Information on UNHCR and NGOs, as well as photos of refugees, will be on display. Handicrafts made by refugees will be on sale.

A ceremony will be held to honour outstanding refugee students. It will be attended by representatives from ministries, local authorities and teachers.

A World Refugee Day television spot by UNHCR may be shown in cinema theatres in Prague.

A public hearing session on the refugee situation in the Czech Republic will take place at the House of Deputies with the participation of experts from the ministries concerned, refugees, NGOs and UNHCR.
