Adyen

About the partnership

Since: 2022

Location: Europe, USA, Canada, APAC Region

When the Ukraine emergency started, Adyen stepped up up and partnered with UNHCR by using their business to make impact. This is made possible through Adyen’s donation tool ‘Giving’ which permits shoppers to donate to UNHCR at online, in-app and in-person checkouts.

Adyen encouraged its merchants to launch campaigns for UNHCR’s emergency response to protect and assist people forced to flee

  • In Ukraine, Poland, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, Slovakia and other countries following the war in Ukraine
  • In Türkiye and Syria following the devastating earthquakes early 2023
  • In Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq for life-saving assistance during the harsh winter months
  • Who need LGBTIQ+ protection services (globally)

Adyen has also been one of the first partners to support UNHCR’s Emergency Action: a structure for unearmarked funding to global emergencies, allowing UNHCR to prepare for and respond to emergencies within 72 hours globally. This also ensures lifesaving support to underreported emergency situations that don’t reach the headlines, from Afghanistan and Somalia to Colombia.

So far, Adyen has doubled its impact by matching all donations made via Adyen Giving.

With the invaluable support of partners like Adyen, UNHCR can assist and protect more displaced people in need.
