Norwegian contributions to UNHCR
Norway is one of UNHCR’s most important strategic partners and a generous donor. In 2023, Norway was UNHCR’s seventh biggest government donor with more than USD 129 million, and third biggest donor per capita. USD 63 million of Norway’s 2023 contribution to UNHCR was unearmarked.
Facts about Norway as a donor:
- At the 2023 Global Refugee Forum, Norway pledged USD 1.7 million to UNHCR’s resettlement efforts for 2023 and 2024.
- Norway also supports UNHCR’s Nansen Refugee Awardand contributes annually with a monetary prize to the Nansen Refugee Award winner.
- In 2023, Norway provided contributions to UNHCR’s response to the Syria situation, Ukraine situation, Sudan situation, Afghanistan situation and Myanmar situation.
- Norway is a strong supporter of education for displaced children and refugees.
