Lithuanian contributions to UNHCR
Since 2011, Lithuania is an important donor to UNHCR. Over time, Lithuania has increased its support to UNHCR. In 2023, Lithuania contributed a total of USD 213,062 to UNHCR, making Lithuania one of our top 50 donors per capita.
Facts about Lithuania as a donor:
- Lithuania has supported UNHCR’s work in Syria for several years.
- Nearly half of Lithuania’s 2023 contribution to UNHCR went to the Ukraine operation.
- In 2023, USD 109,649 of Lithuania’s contribution was unearmarked, enabling rapid responses to sudden, urgent situations and protracted crises.
- Over the years, Lithuania has also provided support for UNHCR’s response to the Syria situation and refugees hosted in Bangladesh.

Lithuania donates to UNHCR to help Syrian refugees
As part of the international community’s emergency response to Syria, Lithuania has donated LTL 70,000 (USD 26,237) to UNHCR to assist and protect Syrian refugees.
Lithuania donates €50,000 to UNHCR to help people forced to flee their homes in Ukraine
At the end of December 2014, the Republic of Lithuania donated €50,000 to the UNHCR Internally Displaced People (IDPS) Operation in Ukraine. This donation is amongst the largest contributions Lithuania has made to UNHCR’s humitarian operations.
