UNHCR, the UN refugee Agency, has submitted our observations to Denmark’s amendments to the Aliens Act and the Citizenship Act.
The amendments in the Aliens Act concern the removal of the sunrise clause on the possibility to transfer asylum-seekers for adjudication of asylum claims and accommodation in third countries.
The amendments in the Citizenship Act concern the introduction of a safeguard against statelessness for persons whose basis for acquisition of Danish citizenship was subsequently found not to have been present at the time of determination. UNHCR provided its observations on concrete recommendations to Denmark, including references to Denmark’s obligations under various international instruments.
UNHCR’s observations are available in full here.
