UNHCR is pleased to host a very special marking of World Refugee Day in Stockholm.
Tickets: Register on Eventbrite
Time: 20 June 18:00-20:00
Place: Norrsken House, Stockholm
On World Refugee Day, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, will be passing the mic to a group of young people with refugee background and impactful stories to share.
You are warmly welcome to join us in Stockholm this evening and listen to the stories of fleeing and building a new life in Sweden, as our young participants take the stage. This will be a reminder of the plight of refugees worldwide – and an occasion to admire the courage, understand the struggles overcome and honour the resilience and strength, displayed by millions of refugees every day.
The Refugee Speakers Programme is a pilot project run by UNHCR in collaboration with TEDxStockholm. Since January, the participants have taken part in a series of workshops and one-to-one coaching in preparation for sharing their stories with the broader public.
World Refugee Day is marked across the globe on 20 June every year to celebrate the strength and courage of refugees, create awareness of the plight of people forced to flee, and advocate for refugees’ right to safety.
The event will be in English, and a more detailed programme will be announced closer to World Refugee Day.
The event takes place at Norrsken House in central Stockholm, who has generously offered to host the event as an important gesture of support to the refugee cause.
Tickets are free but limited due to the capacity at the venue.
