UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, has submitted our observations to the Estonian government’s law proposal that seeks to bring the national legislation in line with the European Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence as well as regulate trafficking.
UNHCR welcomes the priority given to the issue of violence against women in Estonia, but notes that the proposal currently lacks a separate section that addresses the issues related to violence against asylum-seeking and refugee women.
The observations are available here.
