Meet 27-year-old Massoud from Syria as he shows us how to make Arabic coffee and talks about building a new life in Denmark.
When Massoud came to Denmark seven years ago, after fleeing the war in Syria, he first found it difficult to bridge the cultures of his old and his new home. A Danish volunteer family helped him make friends and learn the language.
Massoud now works and plans to study natural science at the university next year.
“We are here because our country is at war, not just to sit around,” he says about Syrian refugees in Denmark. “We work, we study. We are active in society, and we do our best.”
UNHCR continues to call for protection of Syrian refugees, as the situation in Syria has not improved enough to justify the cessation of refugee status.
