Author, Journalist and Sociologist
Aydin Soei is a Danish author, journalist and sociologist. His father fled to Denmark from Iran and applied for family reunification in the middle of the 1980’s when Aydin was three years old. Aydin grew up in Avedøre Stationsby and Gladsaxe, in the suburbs of Copenhagen. Soei has written the books ‘Skyld’, ‘Vrede unge mænd’ and ‘Forsoning’. His book ‘Vrede unge mænd” focus on the feeling of not being a part of society because of your skin colour, religion or gender. As both an author and journalist, Aydin Soei investigates why young people in vulnerable neighbourhoods becomes attracted by gangs, violence and radical movements.
In the spring of 2016, his autobiographical book ‘Forsoning’ was published and has been called a classic in Danish literature and a “must read for everyone interested in immigration”. Soei openly tells about how his parents fled from Iran, and how his mother studied to become an engineer in Denmark, while his father ended up killing another Iranian man.
