Paula Larrain came to Denmark from Chile when she was four years old. Her parents fled during the military coup against the socialist president Salvador Allende in 1973.
In 1994, she graduated from the Danish School of Journalism in Århus. Afterwards, Larrain began to work at the foreign desk at the Danish Broadcasting Cooperation, and for several years she worked at the newspaper Berlingske as an international correspondent covering general elections, wars and humanitarian crises in all parts of the world. Larrain has also worked as an editor on the weekend magazine Berlingske Sunday, before she came back to Danish Broadcasting Cooperation in 2001 to work as a news presenter in prime time.
Since 2007, Larrain has been a successful lecturer and debate moderator. She has also written the humorous book about the media industry ‘Uden for citat’, and been a columnist and blogger for Ekstra Bladet and Journalisten.
