Conversations about LGBTQI people’s asylum cases – challenges and possible solutions
📅 2 August, 11:00 – 11:45
Reasons are identified and measures and solutions are discussed to ensure and maintain legal certainty in the asylum process and to guarantee the individual assessment for LGBTIQ+ asylum seekers. Does Sweden live up to the requirements for a legally certain review for this target group and how does it ensure that fundamental rights are respected? What solutions and measures are available?
Moderator: Alexandra Politidis Palm, Policy Advisor RFSL Ungdom
Participants: Elin Hayman Blomgren, Associate Legal Officer at UNHCR’s Representation to the Nordic and Baltic Countries

Health and migration – experiences shared by an LGBTQ refugee

In this seminar you will listen to LGBTIQ+ refugees from countries where the context is very different from Sweden. We will shed light on the current situation for LGBTIQ+ people in Uganda and Russian speaking countries and the challenges people face.
Furthermore, we will focus on being an LGBTIQ+ migrant in Sweden. From that perspective lived experiences related to access to information and health care will be shared. What is it like in Sweden? Can you, as a refugee, access information and health care when needed? Do you get accessible information about your rights? Is there room for improvement?
📅 2 August, 14:00 – 14:45
People who seek asylum in Sweden because of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity/expression face particular challenges. Knowledge about the group is needed to be able to design a process and support that is safe and legally secure. Thomas Wimark, Associate Professor in
