UNHCR is participating in a number of democracy, political and opinion festivals across the region to engage in discussions on refugee issues, both domestically and globally. Check out below in which festivals we are present.
At Arvamusfestival, UNHCR will host the following panel discussion:
Are local municipalities afraid of refugees?
Stop by the Ministry of Culture’s stage for this interesting panel discussion organized by UNHCR and the Estonian Refugee Council. The panelists include Agnes Sirg (Founder of the Psychosocial Crisis Support Fund for Ukrainian War Refugees (USF)),
Triin Varek (Mayor of Rakvere) and Triin Taal (Tartu Women’s Support and Information Centre, project manager and lawyer). The discussion will be moderated by Sigrid Solnik and UNHCR’s Olga Sõtnik.
During Almedalen, you will find UNHCR at the UN Square (FN-torget) where we will host and speak at the following events:
FN-torget: The place for human rights and sustainable development
Stop by FN-torget where UNHCR and other UN agencies will highlight the SDGs from different perspectives. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of seminars, dialogues, and debates. You can meet UN staff and ask questions on how to land a job at the UN and what it’s like to work in the field.

At a time where the number of wars and humanitarian crises is increasing, UNHCR invites you to a conversation about fleeing war and persecution and having to start all over again in Sweden.
