On 17 June, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is marking World Refugee Day in Stockholm – a day to honour the resilience, strength and courage of the many refugees across the globe.
On 17 June, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency is passing the mic to a group of people with refugee background and important stories to tell. They are participants from our Refugee Speakers Programme, a project launched in 2022 by UNHCR in collaboration with coaches from TEDx organizations.
In a world with more than 100 million people forcibly displaced, and as new wars and conflicts erupt while protracted crises persist, we need to remember that behind each figure is a human being with a story.
Join us on the evening of 17 June and listen to the participants from Uganda, Zimbabwe and Ukraine who will take the stage.
They will share their personal experiences of fleeing home, of dangerous journeys, of separation and uncertainty, but also of hope and building a new life in Sweden.
The choir Gränslösa röster (Voices Without Borders), which consists of asylum-seekers, newly arrived and established Swedes, will be performing during the evening. After the event itself there will be a social reception with refreshments.
The event takes place at Foajé 3 at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in central Stockholm and will be held in English.
Tickets are free but limited due to the capacity at the venue. Register here to get hold of tickets for the event.
