UNHCR and Forstå.dk have jointly updated the Danish educational course “På Flugt”, targeting 6th and 7th graders.
With the hope and ambition to help teachers bring the complex issue of refugees and forced displacement into the classroom in a balanced, fact-based and inclusive manner, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and the Danish portal Forstå.dk have now updated their tailor-made educational course “På Flugt”.
The course was originally created, as a collaboration between UNHCR and Forstå.dk, part of the Danish publisher Alinea, back in 2020. It is free of charge for teachers and pupils to use, and the course targets 6th and 7th graders.
The material not only offers key facts and explanations around forced displacement but also sheds light on the human faces, destinies, and consequences behind the refugee numbers. The update of the material amongst other things include now more information and content around the war in Ukraine and consequently high number of refugees from the country as well as the increasing impact of climate change on forced displacement.
The full educational course, which includes guidance for teachers, can be found on Forstå.dk here (it is free of charge, but requires a login/profile).
