UNHCR at Expo 2002

UNHCR is taking part in this year's EXPO 2002 in Murten/Meyriez, Switzerland. Our stand features a four-wheel-drive vehicle and a tent used in refugee camps, as well as photos illustrating the plight of refugees. Visitors can also experience what it feels like to be registered as a refugee. UNHCR uses a real registration kit to "register" visitors and give them symbolic registration cards. The exhibition named "UN - Freedom from War, Freedom from Fear" runs from 10-14 July at the Expo.02 Arteplage in Murten/Meyriez. The Expo's organisers - the Swiss federal authorities - invited UNHCR to convey to visitors an idea of the humanitarian role played by the United Nations in the field.
