Global Trends in Forced Displacement

War, violence and persecution drove worldwide forced displacement to another new high in 2018.
UNHCR’s annual Global Trends Report – released on 19 June 2019 – shows that nearly 70.8 million people were displaced at the end of 2018. Some 13.6 people were newly displaced during the course of the year.
Overwhelmingly it is developing countries that are most affected.
