Being Loud And Proud With Refugees This World Refugee Day!

20 June 2012 - This World Refugee Day, UNHCR celebrated and recognized the hard work and dedication of refugee communities as they strive to help their own communities in rebuilding their lives. 

On the weekend after the main World Refugee Day launch of 20 June 2012, a special celebration was held to celebrate the work and accomplishments of refugees. Some 300 refugee community workers, health workers and teachers attended the event. 

This event was held at the PARKROYAL Kuala Lumpur hotel, the main event sponsor for this celebratory event. 

The event theme was “Loud and Proud”, to allow refugees to reflect on all their accomplishments and be proud of how far they have come, while being inspired and rejuvenated to be able to better serve their communities.

The event was an informal high-tea with many reflective and entertaining activities aimed at highlighting the theme of “Loud and Proud”, and provided a fun day for refugees and the people who work closely with them.
