Notice – UNHCR Malta ceasing registration activities, while continuing to provide support to all refugees and asylum-seekers, whether or not registered with UNHCR.
UNHCR would like to inform persons of concern in Malta (holders of refugee status or subsidiary protection, asylum-seekers or stateless persons) that for the time being it will discontinue the registration of new files in its database, effective 30 April 2021. Any forms received on 30 April 2021 or later will not be processed for registration by UNHCR Malta.
It is IMPORTANT to note that persons of concern to UNHCR who are not registered with UNHCR Malta will still access the support of UNHCR or our partners on the same basis as persons who are registered with the office.
Registration forms of holders of international protection submitted by 29 April 2021 will be processed and registered on the UNHCR database. Anyone who submitted a form by 29 April 2021, will be called to finalise the registration process.
Due to COVID-19, the office stopped registration activities in 2020 and is currently reviewing ways to process pending registration forms with public health measures in mind.
